On May 6th, the GEG Weekly Seminar will discuss Elie Cavigneaux’s article « defeating terrorism and saving art : fighting the same battle. »

The GEG Weekly Seminar is a series of high-level round tables held in partnership with the College of Europe, the European Institute at Columbia University and the Europe Center at the University of Cambridge.

Participants

Elie Cavigneaux, Former Advisor to the Euro-pean Union Counter-Terrorism Coordinator and author of the paper

Matthew Bogdanos, Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan, author of the book “Thieves of Baghdad”, and colonel in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He famously  led a team to recover over 5,000 priceless antiquities stolen from the Iraqi National Museum after the fall of Baghdad.

Tess Davis, a lawyer and archaeologist by training, is Executive Director of the Antiquities Coalition. She oversees the organization’s work to fight cultural racketeering. Over the last decade, Davis has conducted extensive field research on the illicit trade in Cambodian antiquities, as well as legal research on the kingdom’s cultural property law.

Gilles de Kerchove, coordinateur de l’UE pour la lutte contre le terrorisme, il joue un rôle déterminant pour faire avancer le débat sur la lutte contre le terrorisme au sein de l’UE.

Lynda Albertson, Chief Executive Offcier of the Association for Research into Crimes against Art (ARCA)
