Il est chercheur associ\u00e9 \u00e0 l'Asia Centre ainsi qu\u2019au Centre d\u2019\u00e9tudes fran\u00e7aises sur la R\u00e9gion administrative sp\u00e9ciale de Hong Kong de la R\u00e9publique populaire de Chine.\r\n\r\nDe 1994 \u00e0 1998, Jean-Pierre Cabestan a inaugur\u00e9 et dirig\u00e9 l'antenne de Taipei du Centre d'\u00e9tudes fran\u00e7ais sur la Chine contemporaine et a dirig\u00e9 de 1998 \u00e0 2003 le Centre d\u2019\u00e9tudes fran\u00e7ais sur la Chine contemporaine (CEFC) de Hong Kong ainsi que ses publications, <em>Perspectives chinoises<\/em> et <em>China Perspectives<\/em>. Il est docteur en science politique ainsi qu'en droit de l'universit\u00e9 Paris-I Panth\u00e9on-Sorbonne, et a \u00e9galement obtenu divers dipl\u00f4mes en langue et civilisation chinoises.
