De 1996 \u00e0 1999, il s'installe \u00e0 Paris, o\u00f9 il fait des \u00e9tudes de lettres \u00e0 l\u2019universit\u00e9 de Paris III jusqu'\u00e0 l'obtention d'un doctorat en litt\u00e9rature sud-am\u00e9ricaine.\r\n\r\nApr\u00e8s avoir s\u00e9journ\u00e9 en Belgique dans une petite ville des Ardennes, il s'installe \u00e0 Barcelone et collabore \u00e0 des suppl\u00e9ments litt\u00e9raires jusqu'en 2012. Il rentre ensuite en Colombie.\r\n\r\nSon premier roman, \"Les D\u00e9nonciateurs\" (\"Los informantes\", 2004), lui a valu une reconnaissance internationale imm\u00e9diate.\r\n\r\n\"Histoire secr\u00e8te du Costaguana\" (\"Historia secreta de Costaguana\", 2007) a obtenu le prix Qwerty du meilleur roman en langue espagnole et le prix Fundaci\u00f4n Libros y Letras de la meilleure \u0153uvre de fiction. Le livre le met parmi les \u00e9crivains colombiens les plus importants de ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es.\r\n\r\nIl a \u00e9galement traduit en espagnol des \u0153uvres de E. M. Forster, ou de Victor Hugo.\r\n\r\nIl \u00e9crit r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement dans les colonnes du journal colombien El Espectador et son essai \"El arte de la distorsi\u00f3n\", a remport\u00e9 le prix du journalisme \u201cSimon Bol\u00edvar\u201d.\r\n\r\nIl publie en 2011 \"Le bruit des choses qui tombent\" (\"El ruido de las cosas al caer\") qui obtient le Prix Roger-Caillois - auteur latino-am\u00e9ricain 2012 et le Prix International Dublin Literary.\r\n\r\n\"Les R\u00e9putations\" (\"Las reputaciones\", 2013) obtient le Prix Carbet des lyc\u00e9ens 2016.
