Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 aux \u00c9tats-Unis Davis Fellow du D\u00e9partement d\u2019histoire de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Princeton (2015-2016) et Florence Gould Fellow des \u00e9coles de science sociale et d\u2019histoire de l\u2019Institut d\u2019\u00e9tudes avanc\u00e9es de Princeton (2020-2021). Ses recherches portent sur l\u2019histoire des id\u00e9es et l\u2019histoire \u00e9conomique du XVIe au XXe si\u00e8cle. Il a travaill\u00e9, notamment, sur les liens entre philosophie empiriste, th\u00e9orie de la valeur et th\u00e9orie de la d\u00e9cision, et sur ceux entre religion (jans\u00e9nisme) et \u00e9conomie. Il a dirig\u00e9 plusieurs ouvrages et num\u00e9ros sp\u00e9ciaux de revues autour de l\u2019opposition \u00e0 la principale \u00e9cole de pens\u00e9e du XVIIIe si\u00e8cle, la physiocratie. Il a publi\u00e9 en 2018, chez Fayard, La politique du merveilleux, une autre histoire du Syst\u00e8me de Law (1695-1795) (Best Book Award 2019 de la European Society for the History of Economic Thought ; traduction am\u00e9ricaine \u00e0 para\u00eetre en 2024 aux presses de l'Universit\u00e9 de Chicago) qui est une relecture culturelle et coloniale sur longue p\u00e9riode d'un c\u00e9l\u00e8bre \u00e9pisode financier de la R\u00e9gence. Il est \u00e9galement l\u2019auteur de l\u2019ouvrage intitul\u00e9 Les savoirs perdus de l\u2019\u00e9conomie. Contribution \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9quilibre du vivant (Gallimard, 2023), qui questionne les relations entre savoirs \u00e9conomiques, d\u00e9mocratie scientifique et \u00e9cologie.\r\n\r\nSon dernier livre, Le Monde confisqu\u00e9, est paru en 2025 chez Flammarion.
