Il fait \u00e9galement partie du panel d'arbitres du Centre international pour le r\u00e8glement des diff\u00e9rends relatifs aux investissements (CIRDI) et du Tribunal arbitral du sport (TAS). Il est par ailleurs l'auteur de nombreux ouvrages sur le droit international, dont\u00a0Lawless World\u00a0(2005) et\u00a0Torture Team\u00a0(2008). Son livre\u00a0Retour \u00e0 Lemberg\u00a0(2016) a re\u00e7u de nombreux prix, dont le prix Baillie Gifford 2016 pour la non-fiction, et a \u00e9t\u00e9 traduit en 24 langues.
