Its precise function, biotechnological utility (if any), or level of significance is not yet clear, but at minimum it is work I would have been proud\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/hyzhzirNJe\">https:\/\/t.co\/hyzhzirNJe<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Dario Amodei (@DarioAmodei) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DarioAmodei\/status\/2102831170299834652?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 23, 2026<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Son argumentaire s&rsquo;appuie sur la progression de l&rsquo;IA en math\u00e9matiques, pass\u00e9e en quelques ann\u00e9es de contributions marginales \u00e0 des avanc\u00e9es majeures, ainsi que sur son essai de 2024, <em>Machines of Loving Grace<\/em>, dans lequel il affirmait que l&rsquo;IA pourrait condenser en 5 \u00e0 10 ans des d\u00e9cennies de progr\u00e8s en biologie et en m\u00e9decine.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Il fait valoir que, quand bien m\u00eame cette d\u00e9couverte serait mineure, elle ne constituerait qu&rsquo;un point de d\u00e9part, sur une trajectoire comparable \u00e0 celle observ\u00e9e en math\u00e9matiques.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>La pr\u00e9publication de l&rsquo;article scientifique qui pr\u00e9sente ces travaux refl\u00e8te le m\u00eame d\u00e9s\u00e9quilibre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Les chercheurs d\u2019Anthropic ont ainsi demand\u00e9 \u00e0 Claude d&rsquo;identifier de nouveaux g\u00e8nes appartenant \u00e0 la famille des transcriptases inverses&nbsp;<span class='whitespace-nowrap'><span id='easy-footnote-2-359688' class='easy-footnote-margin-adjust'><\/span><span class='easy-footnote note-digits-1'><a href='https:\/\/legrandcontinent.eu\/fr\/2026\/09\/24\/que-revele-la-decouverte-par-anthropic-dune-nouvelle-enzyme\/#easy-footnote-bottom-2-359688' title='Peter H. Yoon &lt;em&gt;et. al.&lt;\/em&gt;, \u00ab&amp;#160;&lt;a href=&quot;https:\/\/www-cdn.anthropic.com\/22573675ada52a8ca8a97a1a4b4326b2f208a071.pdf&quot;&gt;Autonomous AI agents discover reverse transcriptases with tandem repeat arrays&lt;\/a&gt;&amp;#160;\u00bb, Anthropic, 23 septembre 2026.'><sup>2<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/span>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>L&rsquo;introduction ne justifie toutefois jamais ce choix, alors que c&rsquo;est elle qui, dans un article biom\u00e9dical, pose d\u2019ordinaire le contexte et fixe les objectifs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Les justifications possibles ne manquaient pourtant pas&#160;: la transcriptase inverse a un taux d&rsquo;erreur \u00e9lev\u00e9, ce qui explique en partie la forte fr\u00e9quence de mutation de virus comme le VIH. De nouvelles variantes pourraient donc servir d&rsquo;outils de mutag\u00e9n\u00e8se dirig\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Surtout, Amodei lui-m\u00eame rapproche ces enzymes de CRISPR, l&rsquo;outil d&rsquo;\u00e9dition du g\u00e9nome qui a valu \u00e0 Emmanuelle Charpentier et Jennifer Doudna le <a href=\"https:\/\/legrandcontinent.eu\/fr\/2025\/10\/10\/nobel-de-medecine-2025-la-revolution-de-limmunologie\/\">prix Nobel<\/a> de chimie en 2020.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Les auteurs auraient donc pu pr\u00e9senter leur recherche comme une piste vers de nouveaux outils d&rsquo;\u00e9dition, potentiellement plus pr\u00e9cis que CRISPR, qui reste imparfait.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>La partie \u00ab&#160;discussion&#160;\u00bb, d\u2019ordinaire centrale dans un article biom\u00e9dical, n\u2019aborde pas davantage ces perspectives. L&rsquo;article s&rsquo;en tient au minimum sur le plan biologique, mais d\u00e9taille longuement la mani\u00e8re dont Claude a proc\u00e9d\u00e9.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Il existe des d\u00e9monstrations solides du potentiel de l&rsquo;IA en biom\u00e9decine. Pourtant, Amodei n&rsquo;en mentionne aucune, et aucune ne vient d&rsquo;Anthropic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>La principale est AlphaFold, le mod\u00e8le de Google DeepMind qui <a href=\"https:\/\/legrandcontinent.eu\/fr\/2026\/05\/31\/un-nouveau-modele-dia-a-predit-la-structure-de-plus-dun-milliard-de-proteines\/\">pr\u00e9dit<\/a> la structure tridimensionnelle des prot\u00e9ines \u00e0 partir de leur s\u00e9quence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Si l\u2019article cite AlphaFold, celui-ci ne constitue qu\u2019un outil, et n&rsquo;est jamais pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 pour ce qu&rsquo;il est, soit la preuve la plus forte \u00e0 ce jour de l&rsquo;apport de l&rsquo;IA \u00e0 la biologie.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cet \u00e9t\u00e9, Moderna et Merck ont quant \u00e0 eux publi\u00e9 des r\u00e9sultats interm\u00e9diaires prometteurs de l&rsquo;essai de phase III de leur vaccin \u00e0 ARN messager contre le <a href=\"https:\/\/legrandcontinent.eu\/fr\/2026\/08\/20\/lia-va-t-elle-guerir-le-cancer\/\">cancer<\/a>. La technologie de l&rsquo;ARNm est ant\u00e9rieure \u00e0 l&rsquo;IA, mais le d\u00e9ploiement de ce traitement \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle suppose d&rsquo;y recourir pour acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer la production et <a href=\"https:\/\/legrandcontinent.eu\/fr\/2026\/08\/20\/lia-va-t-elle-guerir-le-cancer\/\">r\u00e9duire<\/a> les co\u00fbts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>L\u00e0 encore, Amodei n\u2019en parle pas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Celui-ci n&rsquo;affirme toutefois rien de faux, et le r\u00e9sultat n&rsquo;est pas d\u00e9nu\u00e9 d&rsquo;int\u00e9r\u00eat&#160;: l&rsquo;enzyme identifi\u00e9e pr\u00e9sente des similitudes avec CRISPR, mais aussi des diff\u00e9rences qui pourraient la rendre utile. Claude semble avoir tir\u00e9 des donn\u00e9es g\u00e9nomiques une s\u00e9rie de pr\u00e9dictions que les chercheurs n&rsquo;ont eu qu&rsquo;\u00e0 v\u00e9rifier exp\u00e9rimentalement, ce qui leur a \u00e9vit\u00e9 de tester un grand nombre d&rsquo;hypoth\u00e8ses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mieux r\u00e9dig\u00e9, et avec une r\u00e9flexion et des perspectives plus d\u00e9velopp\u00e9es, l&rsquo;article aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 tout \u00e0 fait publiable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>CRISPR, comme l\u2019enzyme d\u00e9couverte ici, fait partie du \u00ab&#160;syst\u00e8me immunitaire&#160;\u00bb que les bact\u00e9ries utilisent pour se d\u00e9fendre contre les bact\u00e9riophages, les virus qui les infectent. Ainsi, cette \u00ab&#160;d\u00e9couverte&#160;\u00bb pourrait potentiellement fournir de nouvelles cibles th\u00e9rapeutiques.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>En effet, les bact\u00e9ries du genre Staphylococcus semblent utiliser ces enzymes pour se d\u00e9fendre contre certaines infections de bact\u00e9riophages. La d\u00e9couverte de ces enzymes, ainsi que l\u2019\u00e9tude de leur structure, pourraient donc permettre de concevoir des m\u00e9dicaments bloquant leur fonctionnement, rendant ainsi des bact\u00e9ries telles que Staphylococcus aureus vuln\u00e9rables aux infections de bact\u00e9riophages.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cette \u00ab&#160;d\u00e9couverte&#160;\u00bb pourrait donc, en th\u00e9orie, d\u00e9boucher sur la mise au point de nouveaux antibiotiques, dont l\u2019humanit\u00e9 a plus que jamais besoin \u00e9tant donn\u00e9 le p\u00e9ril croissant de la <a href=\"https:\/\/legrandcontinent.eu\/fr\/2021\/01\/19\/5-points-sur-la-menace-de-la-resistance-aux-antibiotiques\/\">r\u00e9sistance<\/a> bact\u00e9rienne.
