Au Niger, les niveaux des nappes phr\u00e9atiques ont augment\u00e9 de 4 m\u00e8tres en moyenne, les eaux du lac Tchad se reconstituent, et les puits se remplissent \u00e0 nouveau dans une grande partie de la r\u00e9gion&nbsp;<span class='whitespace-nowrap'><span id='easy-footnote-1-350342' class='easy-footnote-margin-adjust'><\/span><span class='easy-footnote note-digits-1'><a href='https:\/\/legrandcontinent.eu\/fr\/2026\/07\/31\/le-sahel-pourrait-etre-au-seuil-dune-nouvelle-ere-humide\/#easy-footnote-bottom-1-350342' title='Fred Pearce, \u00ab&amp;#160;&lt;a href=&quot;https:\/\/e360.yale.edu\/features\/sahel-groundwater-climate-monsoon&quot;&gt;After Decades of Drought, Water Is Rising in the African Sahel&lt;\/a&gt;&amp;#160;\u00bb, &lt;em&gt;Yale Environment 360&lt;\/em&gt;, 23 juillet 2026.'><sup>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ces observations, qui s&rsquo;appuient notamment sur les travaux de l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e9ologue Richard Taylor, vont \u00e0 l&rsquo;encontre de la tendance mondiale.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>L\u2019Asie du Sud et l\u2019Am\u00e9rique enregistrent en effet ces derni\u00e8res semaines des records de temp\u00e9rature, tandis que la s\u00e9cheresse provoque une chute des ressources en eau, notamment en Europe.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"iframe-container wp-block-image wp-block-image-medium  iframe-dw\">\n\t<div>\n\t\t<iframe class=\"absolute w-full h-full pin-t pin-l\" title=\"titolo\" aria-label=\"Interactive line chart\" src=\"\/\/datawrapper.dwcdn.net\/smt00\/\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Plusieurs facteurs permettent d\u2019expliquer pourquoi le Sahel pourrait conna\u00eetre un retour \u00e0 une \u00ab&#160;\u00e8re humide&#160;\u00bb, qui avait pris fin il y a 5 000 ans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>La r\u00e9gion enregistre une augmentation des pr\u00e9cipitations depuis plusieurs ann\u00e9es, notamment durant la saison des pluies. Celles-ci se produisent principalement lors d&rsquo;orages violents, favoris\u00e9s par le changement climatique.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne s&rsquo;explique en grande partie par le r\u00e9chauffement de l&rsquo;Atlantique Nord, d\u00fb \u00e0 la fois au bouleversement climatique mondial et \u00e0 la diminution des a\u00e9rosols sulfat\u00e9s r\u00e9sultant de la combustion du charbon en Europe et en Am\u00e9rique du Nord.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Autrefois, ces a\u00e9rosols formaient une fine brume qui refroidissait l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an et emp\u00eachait la mousson ouest-africaine de remonter jusqu&rsquo;au Sahel, provoquant ainsi la s\u00e9cheresse. Leur d\u00e9clin a r\u00e9chauff\u00e9 l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an et permis \u00e0 la mousson de retrouver sa fonction de productrice de pluies torrentielles dans la r\u00e9gion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Certains chercheurs estiment que des projets d&rsquo;am\u00e9nagement des sols, comme la Grande Muraille verte, initialement con\u00e7ue pour freiner l&rsquo;avanc\u00e9e du Sahara, ou la construction de structures traditionnelles de collecte des eaux, contribuent \u00e9galement \u00e0 la remont\u00e9e des nappes en favorisant l&rsquo;infiltration souterraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>L\u2019\u00e9mergence de groupes terroristes comme Boko Haram pourrait \u00e9galement avoir jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le, notamment en vidant certaines zones de leur population, l\u00e0 o\u00f9 l\u2019eau des rivi\u00e8res \u00e9tait retenue pour des cultures, notamment en amont du lac Tchad.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Le d\u00e9clin de grands projets d&rsquo;irrigation, construits pendant les ann\u00e9es de s\u00e9cheresse pour stimuler la production alimentaire, aurait \u00e9galement pu contribuer \u00e0 reconstituer les ressources hydriques de la r\u00e9gion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Les moussons sah\u00e9liennes, qui sont renforc\u00e9es par le r\u00e9chauffement climatique, peuvent toutefois provoquer des inondations d\u00e9vastatrices, notamment dans une r\u00e9gion o\u00f9 les infrastructures ne sont pas con\u00e7ues pour y faire face. En 2024, des pluies torrentielles ont ainsi fait plus de 2,5 millions de sinistr\u00e9s en Afrique de l&rsquo;Ouest et au centre du continent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Le
