La m\u00eame ann\u00e9e, la diffusion de cartes satellitaires montrant une large tache violette s&rsquo;\u00e9tendant depuis le p\u00f4le Sud a contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 faire du ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne l&rsquo;une des premi\u00e8res crises environnementales d&rsquo;envergure globale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quarante ans plus tard, le trou dans la couche d\u2019ozone continue de se r\u00e9duire chaque ann\u00e9e, et devrait retrouver son niveau de 1980 au cours des 15 prochaines ann\u00e9es&nbsp;<span class='whitespace-nowrap'><span id='easy-footnote-2-325411' class='easy-footnote-margin-adjust'><\/span><span class='easy-footnote'><a href='https:\/\/legrandcontinent.eu\/fr\/2026\/04\/06\/le-trou-dans-la-couche-dozone-devrait-continuer-de-se-resorber-et-retrouver-son-niveau-de-1980-dici-2040\/#easy-footnote-bottom-2-325411' title='&lt;a href=&quot;https:\/\/ozone.unep.org\/sites\/default\/files\/2023-02\/Scientific-Assessment-of-Ozone-Depletion-2022.pdf&quot;&gt;Scientific Assessment of Ozone Depletion&lt;\/a&gt;, World Meteorological Organization, octobre 2022.'><sup>2<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>La couche d\u2019ozone agit comme un \u00e9cran de protection autour de la Terre, qui filtre les rayons ultraviolets (UV) provenant du Soleil.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sans cet \u00e9cran, ces UV provoqueraient des mutations de l&rsquo;ADN avec de nombreux effets sur la sant\u00e9. Ils auraient \u00e9galement un impact destructeur sur les \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes marins.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"iframe-container wp-block-image wp-block-image-medium  iframe-dw\">\n\t<div>\n\t\t<iframe class=\"absolute w-full h-full pin-t pin-l\" title=\"titolo\" aria-label=\"Interactive line chart\" src=\"\/\/datawrapper.dwcdn.net\/eguBU\/\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Le facteur \u00e0 l&rsquo;origine de l&rsquo;amincissement de la couche d&rsquo;ozone \u2014 et de la formation d\u2019un \u00ab&#160;trou&#160;\u00bb au-dessus de l&rsquo;Antarctique \u2014 est identifi\u00e9 depuis les ann\u00e9es 1970. Il s&rsquo;agit principalement des chlorofluorocarbones (CFC), utilis\u00e9s dans les r\u00e9frig\u00e9rateurs, les bombes a\u00e9rosols, les laques et les d\u00e9odorants. Une fois lib\u00e9r\u00e9s dans l&rsquo;atmosph\u00e8re, ces gaz montent jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 la stratosph\u00e8re o\u00f9 les rayons UV solaires les d\u00e9composent, lib\u00e9rant des atomes de chlore qui d\u00e9truisent les mol\u00e9cules d&rsquo;ozone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>D&rsquo;autres substances contribuent \u00e9galement au ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne&#160;: le t\u00e9trachlorom\u00e9thane et certains autres halocarbures lib\u00e8rent eux aussi des atomes de chlore, tandis que le bromom\u00e9thane lib\u00e8re des atomes de brome, qui agissent par un m\u00e9canisme similaire mais distinct.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Deux ans apr\u00e8s la publication de l\u2019article de Gardiner, Shanklin et Farman, en 1987, plusieurs dizaines de pays signaient le protocole de Montr\u00e9al, un accord multilat\u00e9ral qui pr\u00e9voit l\u2019\u00e9limination progressive de la production et de l\u2019utilisation de CFC. De 1,7 million de tonnes consomm\u00e9es dans le monde en 1989, ce chiffre est tomb\u00e9 \u00e0 0,3 million une d\u00e9cennie plus tard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>En 2021, la consommation de CFC \u00e9tait quasiment \u00e9limin\u00e9e&#160;: seulement 17 000 tonnes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 consomm\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle mondiale cette ann\u00e9e-l\u00e0, selon les Nations unies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"iframe-container wp-block-image wp-block-image-medium  iframe-dw\">\n\t<div>\n\t\t<iframe class=\"absolute w-full h-full pin-t pin-l\" title=\"titolo\" aria-label=\"Interactive line chart\" src=\"\/\/datawrapper.dwcdn.net\/s7TXi\/\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Les CFC ont \u00e9t\u00e9 remplac\u00e9s par des hydrofluorocarbures (HFC). l\u2019Amendement de Kigali, qui vise \u00e0 \u00e9liminer les HFC. \u00c0 ce jour, plus de 170 pays ont ratifi\u00e9 cet
