C\u2019est en 1882 que la premi\u00e8re centrale \u00e0 charbon du monde a vu le jour dans le quartier de Holborn Viaduct, \u00e0 Londres. Aujourd\u2019hui, lundi 30 septembre 2024, le gouvernement britannique va fermer la derni\u00e8re de ces centrales encore en activit\u00e9, achevant un objectif initialement fix\u00e9 en 2015 pour l\u2019an prochain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>La centrale \u00e0 charbon de Ratcliffe-on-Soar a \u00e9t\u00e9 construite en 1968, et disposait d\u2019une capacit\u00e9 de production annuelle d\u2019environ 2 200 MW. Toutes les centrales de sa g\u00e9n\u00e9ration ont \u00e9t\u00e9 ferm\u00e9es au cours des derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Malgr\u00e9 divers projets lanc\u00e9s dans les ann\u00e9es 2010, aucune nouvelle centrale \u00e0 charbon n\u2019a \u00e9t\u00e9 construite au Royaume-Uni depuis 1986 \u2014 tandis que 40 nouvelles unit\u00e9s sont entr\u00e9es en activit\u00e9 en Allemagne au cours de cette p\u00e9riode.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"iframe-container wp-block-image wp-block-image-medium  iframe-dw\">\n\t<div>\n\t\t<iframe class=\"absolute w-full h-full pin-t pin-l\" title=\"titolo\" aria-label=\"Interactive line chart\" src=\"\/\/datawrapper.dwcdn.net\/56Fa0\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>La fermeture de Ratcliffe-on-Soar constitue avant tout un symbole marquant la fin d\u2019une \u00e8re. Le charbon repr\u00e9sente entre 1 et 2&#160;% du mix \u00e9lectrique britannique depuis 2019, contre pr\u00e8s de 40&#160;% en 2012 et 70&#160;% en 1987. La production britannique de charbon s\u2019est elle aussi effondr\u00e9e depuis les ann\u00e9es 1950, et il ne reste \u00e0 ce jour qu\u2019une seule mine en activit\u00e9&#160;: Aberpergwm, au Pays de Galles, ouverte en 1811.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"iframe-container wp-block-image wp-block-image-medium  iframe-dw\">\n\t<div>\n\t\t<iframe class=\"absolute w-full h-full pin-t pin-l\" title=\"titolo\" aria-label=\"Interactive line chart\" src=\"\/\/datawrapper.dwcdn.net\/JcCHD\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>La sortie progressive du charbon est une tendance \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u0153uvre dans la quasi-totalit\u00e9 des pays occidentaux. \u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle mondiale, la consommation est n\u00e9anmoins en hausse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Chaque ann\u00e9e depuis 2003, la Chine compte pour plus de 50&#160;% des ajouts de nouvelles capacit\u00e9s de production d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 \u00e0 partir de charbon.
