Celui-ci avait pour objectif de percuter, presque 10 mois plus tard, un ast\u00e9ro\u00efde nomm\u00e9 Dimorphos, situ\u00e9 \u00e0 7 millions de kilom\u00e8tres de la Terre.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ce g\u00e9ocroiseur (un ast\u00e9ro\u00efde ou une com\u00e8te) ne repr\u00e9sente pas une menace pour notre plan\u00e8te puisqu\u2019il tourne en orbite autour d\u2019un plus gros ast\u00e9ro\u00efde, Didymos, situ\u00e9 \u00e0 11 millions de kilom\u00e8tres de nous. De par sa taille et ses caract\u00e9ristiques, il correspond toutefois \u00e0 un objet qui serait susceptible de constituer une menace pour l\u2019esp\u00e8ce humaine \u2014 s\u2019il venait \u00e0 entrer en collision avec la Terre.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"iframe-container wp-block-image wp-block-image-large  iframe-dw\">\n\t<div>\n\t\t<iframe class=\"absolute w-full h-full pin-t pin-l\" title=\"titolo\" aria-label=\"Interactive line chart\" src=\"\/\/datawrapper.dwcdn.net\/bfMN2\/3\/\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ainsi, la mission Double Asteroid Redirection Test (ou DART) vise \u00e0 se pr\u00e9parer \u00e0 cette menace qui pourrait se pr\u00e9senter \u00e0 l\u2019avenir. Elle s\u2019inscrit dans le prolongement de l\u2019effort initi\u00e9 \u00e0 la fin des ann\u00e9es 1990 par les \u00c9tats-Unis qui consiste \u00e0 d\u00e9tecter puis \u00e0 suivre les g\u00e9ocroiseurs susceptibles d\u2019entrer en collision avec la Terre.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Par le pass\u00e9, plusieurs de ces ast\u00e9ro\u00efdes ont constitu\u00e9 une potentielle menace pour notre plan\u00e8te selon la NASA. Le niveau de danger a depuis \u00e9t\u00e9 abaiss\u00e9, faisant suite \u00e0 de nouveaux calculs qui \u00e9cartent la probabilit\u00e9 d\u2019un tel \u00e9v\u00e9nement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>La taille de l\u2019engin spatial envoy\u00e9 par la NASA \u00e9quivaut \u00e0 celle d\u2019une voiturette de golf, tandis que l\u2019ast\u00e9ro\u00efde qu\u2019il s\u2019appr\u00eate \u00e0 percuter mesure plus de 160 m\u00e8tres de diam\u00e8tre, soit la taille d\u2019un stade. Cependant, cet impact suffirait \u00e0 le d\u00e9vier de sa trajectoire, sauvant la Terre et l\u2019esp\u00e8ce humaine dans un sc\u00e9nario r\u00e9el.
