On sait que les Allemands avaient \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque envoy\u00e9 une exp\u00e9dition punitive en Chine. Il \u00e9tait l&rsquo;un des officiers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alors qu\u2019il visite un jour une campagne, cet officier voit une file de Chinois qui, tr\u00e8s sagement, attendent d&rsquo;\u00eatre d\u00e9capit\u00e9s. Le bourreau se tient \u00e0 une extr\u00e9mit\u00e9 de la file, un sabre \u00e0 la main, et coupe les t\u00eates. Les unes apr\u00e8s les autres. Au bout de cette rang\u00e9e, l\u2019officier voit l\u2019un de ces Chinois avec un livre&#160;: plong\u00e9 entre les pages, il lit. Tr\u00e8s attentivement. Alors l&rsquo;officier, piqu\u00e9 dans sa curiosit\u00e9, s&rsquo;approche de lui et demande&#160;: \u00ab&#160;Que lisez-vous donc&#160;?&#160;\u00bb Le Chinois l\u00e8ve les yeux vers lui et r\u00e9pond&#160;: \u00ab&#160;Pourquoi me d\u00e9rangez-vous&#160;?&#160;\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alors l&rsquo;officier&#160;: \u00ab&#160;Je vous d\u00e9range parce que dans quelques secondes vous serez mort. Pourquoi lisez-vous&#160;?&#160;\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le Chinois le regarde et lui dit&#160;: \u00ab&#160;Chaque ligne lue est profitable.&#160;\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">*<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Voici l&rsquo;histoire. Et, pour moi, elle fonctionne tr\u00e8s bien jusqu&rsquo;ici. Mais il y a aussi une suite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 ce moment-l\u00e0, l&rsquo;officier est tellement impressionn\u00e9 par cette r\u00e9ponse qu&rsquo;il va voir le g\u00e9n\u00e9ral charg\u00e9 de l&rsquo;op\u00e9ration et lui demande de gracier ce Chinois.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le g\u00e9n\u00e9ral accepte cette demande.
