Il y avait, selon les estimations de l\u2019OMS&nbsp;<span class='whitespace-nowrap'><span id='easy-footnote-1-122760' class='easy-footnote-margin-adjust'><\/span><span class='easy-footnote'><a href='https:\/\/legrandcontinent.eu\/fr\/2021\/10\/08\/un-vaccin-a-ete-trouve-pour-lutter-contre-le-paludisme\/#easy-footnote-bottom-1-122760' title='&lt;a href=&quot;https:\/\/www.who.int\/news-room\/fact-sheets\/detail\/malaria&quot;&gt;Lire ici&lt;\/a&gt;'><sup>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/span>, 229 millions de cas dans le monde en 2019, et 409 000 personnes en sont d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9es, dont 67&#160;% d\u2019enfants. 94&#160;% des cas de malaria se situent sur le continent africain. Un enfant meurt du paludisme toutes les deux minutes selon l\u2019OMS.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"iframe-container wp-block-image wp-block-image-large  iframe-dw\">\n\t<div>\n\t\t<iframe class=\"absolute w-full h-full pin-t pin-l\" title=\"titolo\" aria-label=\"Interactive line chart\" src=\"\/\/datawrapper.dwcdn.net\/EbT2s\/\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Les fonds d\u00e9ploy\u00e9s afin de gu\u00e9rir et juguler la maladie atteignaient, en 2019, environ 3 milliards de dollars, et les pays les plus touch\u00e9s par la maladie contribuaient pour 31&#160;% du total de cette somme. Un vaccin est recherch\u00e9 depuis une centaine d\u2019ann\u00e9es, et de nombreux ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s, sans d\u00e9passer la phase des essais cliniques. Un autre candidat, appel\u00e9 Matrix-M, avait \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 par l\u2019universit\u00e9 d\u2019Oxford pour atteindre, en avril 2021, une efficacit\u00e9 de 77&#160;%, et son homologation pourrait se faire dans les deux prochaines ann\u00e9es&nbsp;<span class='whitespace-nowrap'><span id='easy-footnote-3-122760' class='easy-footnote-margin-adjust'><\/span><span class='easy-footnote'><a href='https:\/\/legrandcontinent.eu\/fr\/2021\/10\/08\/un-vaccin-a-ete-trouve-pour-lutter-contre-le-paludisme\/#easy-footnote-bottom-3-122760' title='&lt;a href=&quot;https:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/afrique\/article\/2021\/10\/06\/l-oms-recommande-un-deploiement-massif-du-premier-vaccin-contre-le-paludisme-chez-les-enfants-vivant-dans-les-zones-a-risque_6097379_3212.html&quot;&gt;L\u2019OMS recommande le d\u00e9ploiement massif du premier vaccin antipaludique chez les enfants vivant dans les zones \u00e0 risque (lemonde.fr)&lt;\/a&gt;'><sup>3<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/span>.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Ce vaccin est d\u2019autant plus novateur qu\u2019il s\u2019agit du premier \u00e0 traiter une maladie parasitaire, les parasites \u00e9tant des esp\u00e8ces bien plus complexes que les bact\u00e9ries ou les virus, qui peuvent de plus toucher de nombreuses fois la m\u00eame personne. Des essais cliniques ont montr\u00e9 que la combinaison de m\u00e9dicaments et de vaccins \u00e9tait particuli\u00e8rement efficace pour traiter les cas graves chez l\u2019enfant.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Selon les essais cliniques, le vaccin a une efficacit\u00e9 de 50&#160;% contre les cas s\u00e9v\u00e8res de maladie durant la premi\u00e8re ann\u00e9e, mais n\u2019a plus aucune efficacit\u00e9 \u00e0 partir de la quatri\u00e8me ann\u00e9e.
