Le Grand Continent a le plaisir d’organiser un Cabinet de lecture avec Branko Milanovic autour de son livre,\u00a0The Great Global Transformation : The United States, China, and the Remaking of the World Economic Order<\/em><\/a> (University of Chicago Press).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Branko Milanovic<\/a> entrera en discussion avec Andrea Capussela<\/a> (LSE), Lucas Chancel<\/a> (Sciences-Po), Pierre Charbonnier<\/a> (Sciences-Po), Emmanuel Gu\u00e9rin<\/a> (European Climate Foundation) et Claudia Senik<\/a> (PSE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour Branko Milanovic, les deux grandes puissances \u00e9conomiques mondiales suivent des trajectoires oppos\u00e9es. Aux \u00c9tats-Unis, des d\u00e9cennies de politiques n\u00e9olib\u00e9rales ont donn\u00e9 naissance \u00e0 une petite classe d\u2019\u00e9lites fortun\u00e9es et ont vid\u00e9 la classe moyenne de sa substance. En Chine, ces m\u00eames forces mondiales ont fait \u00e9merger une nouvelle classe sup\u00e9rieure massive. Il en r\u00e9sulte le plus grand remaniement des revenus mondiaux depuis la r\u00e9volution industrielle\u00a0 et un bouleversement spectaculaire de l\u2019ordre politique de chaque pays. Alors que les deux puissances s\u2019\u00e9loignent l\u2019une de l\u2019autre, les implications pour leur avenir, et pour l\u2019\u00e9conomie mondiale, sont incertaines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dans\u00a0The Great Global Transformation<\/em>, il analyse la mani\u00e8re dont ces bouleversements majeurs fa\u00e7onneront le prochain si\u00e8cle. Alors que les \u00c9tats-Unis et la Chine se replient sur le protectionnisme, il montre comment un nouvel ordre mondial multipolaire va s\u2019imposer et comment la mont\u00e9e du nationalisme aura des effets radicalement diff\u00e9rents sur les deux pays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Branko Milanovic annonce l\u2019av\u00e8nement d\u2019une nouvelle \u00e8re qu\u2019il qualifie de \u00ab lib\u00e9ralisme de march\u00e9 national \u00bb, dans laquelle le lib\u00e9ralisme survit dans les \u00e9conomies nationales, mais pas n\u00e9cessairement dans la sph\u00e8re sociale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
