En 1882, se construy\u00f3 la primera central el\u00e9ctrica de carb\u00f3n del mundo en la zona del viaducto de Holborn, en Londres. Hoy, lunes 30 de septiembre de 2024, el Gobierno brit\u00e1nico cerrar\u00e1 la \u00faltima de estas centrales a\u00fan en funcionamiento, completando as\u00ed un objetivo fijado inicialmente en 2015 para el pr\u00f3ximo a\u00f1o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>La central de carb\u00f3n de Ratcliffe-on-Soar se construy\u00f3 en 1968 y ten\u00eda una capacidad de producci\u00f3n anual de unos 2.200 MW. Todas las centrales de su generaci\u00f3n se han cerrado en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A pesar de varios proyectos lanzados en la d\u00e9cada de 2010, no se han construido nuevas centrales de carb\u00f3n en el Reino Unido desde 1986, mientras que en Alemania han entrado en funcionamiento 40 nuevas unidades durante este periodo.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"iframe-container wp-block-image wp-block-image-medium  iframe-dw\">\n\t<div>\n\t\t<iframe class=\"absolute w-full h-full pin-t pin-l\" title=\"titolo\" aria-label=\"Interactive line chart\" src=\"\/\/datawrapper.dwcdn.net\/838yB\/\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>El cierre de Ratcliffe-on-Soar es sobre todo un s\u00edmbolo que marca el fin de una era. Desde 2019, el carb\u00f3n representa entre el 1% y el 2% del mix el\u00e9ctrico brit\u00e1nico, frente a casi el 40% en 2012 y el 70% en 1987. La producci\u00f3n brit\u00e1nica de carb\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n se ha desplomado desde la d\u00e9cada de 1950, y hoy solo queda una mina en funcionamiento: Aberpergwm, en Gales, que abri\u00f3 en 1811.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"iframe-container wp-block-image wp-block-image-medium  iframe-dw\">\n\t<div>\n\t\t<iframe class=\"absolute w-full h-full pin-t pin-l\" title=\"titolo\" aria-label=\"Interactive line chart\" src=\"\/\/datawrapper.dwcdn.net\/ZF30T\/\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>La eliminaci\u00f3n gradual del carb\u00f3n es una tendencia que est\u00e1 en marcha en casi todos los pa\u00edses occidentales. A escala mundial, sin embargo, el consumo de carb\u00f3n va en aumento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Desde 2003, m\u00e1s del 50% de la nueva capacidad de producci\u00f3n de electricidad a partir de carb\u00f3n ha correspondido a China.
